The immense importance of books in all our lives.

A book is like an ocean. It has many characters, emotions and memories filled in it and the reader is a swimmer, who swims through this ocean of boundless happiness absorbing everything that he/she reads. A book can also be looked at as a fair. Once you enter it , it becomes almost impossible to get out of it. You meet new characters, experience new feelings, go on adventures and return home feeling extremely satisfied and happy.

My love for books can never be expressed. But it is there. Deep in my heart there will always be a special place for books. My first experience with books was when I was five years old. At that time I used to think that I was reading books just because I wanted to show off. But as I started understanding the books and the characters in them, I realized that I really was an avid reader. I became the person I wanted to be. I enjoyed reading books. Even today if you give me a book, I might be so enthralled by its magic that even if my room catches fire, I might not notice it. (I am not even kidding). Books have a magic of capturing the attention of their readers. Each book is a different adventure, some of which are surreal. I love going on these adventures, all of them.

My favorite genres are sci-fi, supernatural and horror. I've read books about ghosts, vampires, martians, demons, angels, witches, mermaids, fairies, futurenauts and many such weird creatures. You must be thinking that I only read about dead and paranormal stuff. But no, I also read non-fiction. Real stories about real people are always very enlightening. Even though I've not read many non-fictional books, but the ones I have read are amazing, such as the books written by Anne Frank, A.P.J Abdul Kalam, Mahatma Gandhi and Stephen Hawking. These people are not only great writers but also eminent personalities.

Just like I said before I have no particular taste in books. I am just hungry for stories. Once I start reading a book, its hard to close it without finishing. It is rightly said that a book itself is a different world where everything else is left behind and all that matters is this new world and the people in it. (I wish such things happened with school books too). Once we start reading we forget all our problems and tensions, we forget the regrets from the pas and we forget the anxiety about the future. Only one thing matters and that is living in the present. Such magical things are only possible because of books.

Books have shaped my personality. Whatever kind of person I am today, is solely because of the books I have read. Books have also helped me in learning new words and improving my vocabulary. I have learnt about so many different authors.

Many a times I have heard people say that reading a paperback version of a book gives a pleasure which cannot be experienced while reading those books on e-readers.But I completely disagree. I mean if you truly love reading, it should not depend on your mode of reading. But again everyone has their own preferences. Although when I read on a kindle or phone or paperback, there is always a movie going on in my head. So if you ask me about any book, there is always a picture for it. I wont remember each and every detail of all the books I have read but I do remember the outline of the story. So whether you are reading a paperback or an e-version of it, the movie in your head should still go on.

I think I have said more than enough about books and the huge role they play in my life.

Thanks a lot for reading and do feel free to give feedback so that I can improve on my style of writing. Also I would appreciate it if you shred it with your friends and family. Thank you again and toodles!!
